Residents who rely on local roads will see repaving crews start work on portions of Rose Avenue and Gonzales Road by September, according to the project schedule attached to the ordinance. The measure also funds two new bus shelters and signal timing adjustments along the Route 6 corridor operated by Gold Coast Transit, which recorded 1.2 million boardings in the most recent annual report.
City budget documents list the $52 million total as comprising $31 million from the general fund reserve and $21 million in anticipated state grants. Procurement notices for the first round of contracts are projected to appear on the city website within 30 days.
